Rooted in Connection

The throughline consistent in all of Laura's work and volunteer efforts is an appreciation for the importance of connection. Strong communities are built on a foundation of connection with nature and each other.

Plant the seeds for UA's tomorrow

The population of central Ohio is forecasted to grow by 30% by 2050, and we must prepare for that increase now. By building onto our walking and cycling infrastructure, improving access to public transportation, and embracing climate-friendly planning and development, we can avoid overwhelming our streets and parking lots.

Grow a sense of belonging

American happiness and well-being has plummeted in recent years, especially among younger people. Improving access to third spaces where people of all ages and backgrounds can gather outside of work or their homes builds connections. Increasing the sharing economy strengthens relationships with each other and the community as a whole.

Nurture a resilient community

As the weather gets weirder in central Ohio, climate resilience becomes more critical than ever. Incentivizing climate-friendly choices and educating on opportunities for sustainable decision making will prepare us for the extremes. Community gardens and other opportunities to empower residents help us all be more resilient.

Why vote for Laura for UA City Council?

As a small business owner, creativity and empathy have been the keys to Laura's success. She'll bring her decades of experience working with municipalities, businesses and nonprofits to Upper Arlington City Council.

For more than a decade Laura has supported progressive candidates behind the scenes and has adamantly joked that she has a face for working behind the MacBook. In May 2024 her annual mammogram led to a breast cancer diagnosis, and a week later her beloved beagle Eleanor was diagnosed with breast cancer, too. After the November election Laura was mostly recovered from a bilateral mastectomy, Eleanor had died in her arms of cancer, and Laura was more acutely aware than ever that the only day promised is today. She affirmed that her ongoing mission would be to take direct action to improve her community with a focus on supporting the most vulnerable populations and making sure that people of all backgrounds feel safe and like they belong in Upper Arlington.

Laura’s been working with clients big and small around the world since starting her digital marketing business, Starburst Media, in 2009. Laura will bring her more than 20 years of experience in communications, connection building and climate-friendly decision-making to her chosen community, Upper Arlington, as a member of UA City Council.
